SC Pride Movement 2008 Annual Report

"2008: The Year that was SO GAY"
The Board of the South Carolina Pride Movement (SC Pride)
has completed its first annual report in recent years covering the
organization’s activity in South Carolina during 2008. Entitled
“2008: The Year that was SO GAY”, the report chronicles events
and programs at the Harriet Hancock Community Center,
highlights Rainbow Radio episodes, summarizes of the SCPride
2008 festival, and much more.
The report gets its name from the state’s “SO Gay” incident,
which launched SC Pride into the international media spotlight and even generated a Pride
sponsorship from AMRO Worldwide, the London based travel company featured in the “So
Gay” ads. The report is organized by the 4 tenets of the organization: Support, Celebrate,
Educate, and Advocate. Some of the highlights in the report include sections on the successful
recycling campaign entitled “My PRIDE color is GREEN”, on the outreach at regional pride
events, and on the collaboration with the other progressive organizations in the state.
